Parasalaya stretches from west of the River Arnanga to the Orhte Plains in the east, and from the Great Divide in the north to the arcing deserts of Sinhalaya to the south.

Occasionally and collectively the people of Parasalaya are called Sarva; their language is Sarvin.

It is a mostly dry country, slightly rolling and with a good covering of grass if the rains come. There are a few dotted woods and plantations. The climate is generally hot and dry in summer, with occasional, violent storms; winters are mild, with some moderate rainfall. Towards the north-west more rain falls, even in summer, and there are larger areas of woodland and cultivation on the lower slopes of the Great Divide.
